Massimo Vignelli's Helvetica Obsession
Helvetica was developed in 1957 by Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann but Helvetica is more synonymous with the name Massimo Vignelli he is and always has been a strong advocate of Hevetica since it's early beginings.
Vignelli Sees typography as a discipline to organize information in the most objective way possible " I try to make as clear as possible the different parts of a message by using space, weight, and typographic alignments, such as flush left, centered or justified One of the most important elements in typography is scale and size relationship.
"I don’t believe when you write dog the type should bark"
Massimo Vignelli's work has been done over many years by using only 5 typefaces that he feels very strongly about (Garamond, Bodoni, Helvetica, Univers, Century) his works, firmly within the Modernist tradition focuses on simplicity through the use of basic geometric forms in all of his work with primary colours, and primary shapes. His designs are…clear , simple enduring and timeless are centered on the message as appose to a concept
